Grief has been a teacher long before I could I didneitify it as such. The very nature of AIT as a project and concept has roots in losses within my family, which I have eventually realized extended and deepened my understanding of lineage.

I’ve been able to mold expressions of this work in a way that was both responsive to feedback, but also my curiosities and hopes. I find myself at a series of threshold moments - as words that were cut from the book but are still worthy of homes start to come together again.

During the shutdown, and still to now, I’ve interwoven lineages of care, ancestral veneration, and radical imagination to invite us all to consider what we want our legacy to be, while we’re still alive to walk it. This taps into a sentiment that our society also wants us to live with - fear. Grief and fear with healing and wellness work do not serve only as things we work on, or circle about once - they get integrated into our everyday lives when we embrace that we will not be here forever, from a place that is rooted in something else instead - love.
